MĀNOA CAREER CENTER
The Mānoa Career Center assists students in exploring and experiencing career life by partnering with on-campus and off-campus employers.
One of the main events the Career Center holds is the Career Fair, which is held in the Fall and Spring semester. Students are given the chance to explore job and/or internship opportunities with a variety of employers.
CAREER FAIR
The Career Fair posters consist of simple illustrations and bright, vibrant colors to encourage students to attend. I made the Fall and Spring Career Fair themes similar in the illustrative theme.
Using Adobe After Effects, I created a looping animation for the Career Fair app. The animation shows how students can prepare their resume and cover letters, interviews, and networking with potential employers by attending our workshops.
STUDENT EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR (SEOTY)
The Student Employee of the Year awards recognizes many student employees at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The student employees are nominated by their employers for both individual and student teams.
I designed the evite, program booklet, nominee posters, as well as bulletin boards recognizing the 2023 winners.
EMERGING BLOOM
The design theme I created for the 2023 Student Employee of the Year was Emerging Bloom. The graphic elements are made up of the Ko’oloa’ula flower emerging from different places. The Koʻoloaʻula is an endangered native Hawaiian plant, usually encompassed by a vast amount of leaves, but when discovered, the colorful heart-shaped petals shine even brighter.
Despite being hidden among leaves and other plants, the Koʻoloaʻula continues to thrive, making itself detectable and distinct. This expresses the idea that hard work does not go unnoticed and that it will be followed by success.
BULLETIN BOARDS
These bulletin board designs were printed and placed on the first and ground floors of the Queen Liliʻuokalani Center (QLC) building and the post office on campus.
STUDENT SHIRT
I designed the new Mānoa Career Center student shirt for the student employees. I added elements to the Career Center logo to make it more dynamic yet recognizable.
INITIAL DESIGNS
I designed a few versions with and without the logo, and a reconstructed version of the logo. I included a version with the university color (green) but after some revisions, I kept the main shirt color black.
I communicated with the printer for our shirts and adjusted the design based off of their feedback.
This was the chosen design. Black was the preferred color based on a survey done by the student employees.
